Now for something completely different, Korean-based car manufacturer Kia has really exceeded all expectations with its innovative rear-wheel-drive model, the Stinger.
Designed to compete with some well-known luxury brands, it has been described in the motoring press as having "the muscle, quality, kit and style to upset the sporty executive class regulars".

True to form, Kia has gone its own way with the engine choices for the Stinger. Entry-level engines are a 197bhp 2.2-litre turbo diesel or the petrol version which is a 2.0 litre 4-cylinder turbo. For the dedicated 'petrolheads' there is a V6 twin-turbo packing 3.3 litres and giving 365bhp. This equates to 0-60mph in under 5 seconds, with a top-end speed of 168mph.
Take a closer look at three of the most popular models to get a better idea of your options:
The GT Line edition only comes with either of the two smaller engines, but you are more than compensated with a ton of other high-spec features to enjoy. Included are full leather seats, with heated fronts and memory recall for the driver, adaptive cruise control, keyless entry, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, SatNav with 8†touchscreen and DAB radio.
Additions for the GT Line S model are many. In this version, you have ventilated front seats, remote power tailgate, sunroof, LED headlights, a 360 degree surround-view camera, wireless phone charging and an incredible 15 speaker sound system.
To allow for the huge power output of the top-spec engine, the GT S version features an upgraded suspension, adaptive shock absorbers and a Brembo braking system. Inside it gets better, with soft leather upholstery, adjustable lumbar support, the epic Harmon-Kardon sound system and split-screen SatNav.
Not only is the Kia Stinger designed to turn heads everywhere it goes, it also drives like a dream. This is partly due to the unexpected bonus of rear-wheel drive, but also thanks to built-in features like the adaptive suspension and ultra-light (but very positive) steering system. All very necessary if you intend to drive the car in the way Kia very obviously intended it to be driven! It's good to know this car has a glowing 5-Star Euro NCAP rating.
Inside the Kia Stinger, you could easily forget that it is actually a 5-door car with room for three adults in the back, plus enough space in the boot for all their luggage! The overall impression is one of luxury, with leather everywhere and plenty of fancy features to show off, including voice-activated features. Parking the Kia Stinger in the tightest space is no problem, thanks to the unique 360-degree 'birds eye' parking camera.
