Yet again, Dacia get away with an affordable mild SUV without making the sacrifices you would expect. It's a great alternative to the Nissan Juke and Fiat Panda Trekking, especially with the SUV looks that is achieved through raised suspension as well as SUV styled body.

The original Sandero supermini is a rugged, unsophisticated car, with the SUV style making it look pretty good, matching the stylings of other vehicles in this class.

About the Dacia Sandero Stepway

Plastic has been used for both the windows sills and wheel arches, and a chrome roof bar looks especially smart. The modifications aren't similar to any other vehicle, giving it an upmarket feel that anybody can appreciate.

Driving is based on the Renault Clio, and at times it can feel outdated. That isn't to say it isn't pleasant to drive. With the added suspension, it's easy to soak up even the harshest of bumps. There may be slight body roll when taking corners, there is still a lot of group. With it being SUV styled, you get a good view from the driving seat.

With the Sandero Stepway being a fairly bulky car, you can imagine just how practical it is. With 320 litres of boot space which can be expanded to 1,200 litres of space, there is plenty of room for a variety of items.

You can definitely tell that the design process has focused on it being family friendly. The door bins provide plenty of room, with both the front and back seats having map pockets. The touring pack adds transverse bars instead of the normal roof rail, floor mats and even a central armrest in the front seat area.

Even though it has been designed to be a budget SUV, Dacia haven't ignored the safety aspects. All versions get four airbags, stability control, child seat fittings and even ABS.
