The Dacia Sandero is a very likeable car considering its age, and offers good value for money. It may feel a bit basic and dated when compared to other mainstream rivals, but it´s still a good vehicle to drive

About the Dacia Sandero

First arriving in the UK in 2012, Dacia have quickly become a favourite with people. They´re famous for no nonsense, as well as affordable prices. You can definitely see the inspiration from other Renault vehicles, and it's a good five door alternative, rivalling both the Suzuki Swift and Ford Fiesta.

One of the first things to notice is the value for money. The size is best compared to the Volkswagen Golf, and it has a large boot, practical interior and even more surprising is low running costs. There isn't any wonder why the Sandero ended up on a lot of top cars for 2013.

One of Dacia's main focuses with the majority of their vehicles is substance over style, so it should be no surprise that the Sandero has a fairly low key look. You can tell that they've focused on practicality. One thing to note is how it's charming to look at in it's own rugged way.

The driving is based on the Renault Clio mk2, making it feel it feel longer than it actually is. When driving at fairly low speeds the steering can feel heavy, and it can also suffer from kickback over corner pumps. One of the defining factors is the soft suspension, providing a comfortable ride no matter what the journey is. There's a lot of grip, making it a pleasant experience for any driver.

Something that surprised a lot of people is just how reliable the Sandero is. It´s possible to use Renault parts if something goes wrong, which is incredibly useful. The 900 cc petrol and 1.5 litre diesel engine is the same as the one found in some of the latest Clio's, utilising a smart five speed manual gearbox.

Practically is at the forefront of this vehicle. The boot space provides an impressive 320 litres of space, and when the rear seats are folded flat it can be improved to 1,200 litres. It's definitely one of the biggest boots you can find out the supermini class.
