Why lease a Smart

In 2020, car giants Mercedes-Benz and Geely announced they were taking on joint ownership of the Smart brand. Is this a good thing? Absolutely. With this kind of massive backup from global leaders in the vehicle industry, those in the know predict this originally small brand will get bigger and bigger – even if the cars they release are known for being incredibly compact. After all, that’s the attraction for many drivers when it comes to Smart cars.

The new owners plan to build a revolutionary stable of fully electric Smart models – they’re aiming to release these in 2022. The next generation of the Smart car will be styled by Mercedes-Benz’s world-renowned design team – so expect Mercedes magic to be sprinkled liberally throughout the new cars.

The Smart Range

When Smart launched their first models, there was an impressive waiting list. The cars are perfect for city driving. Nipping into parking spaces that would be a daunting task for drivers of average-sized cars is no problem at all for the little Smart. As well as the compact size, the cars can turn on a sixpence – another bonus for navigating our crowded city streets.

The company launched its first models in the UK in 2000. The current range includes a nifty convertible and a coupé. Don’t be fooled by the tiny size of these clever cars either, although they’re not exactly family cars or going to accommodate a couple of large suitcases, there is a surprising amount of room inside. We like to call it the ‘Tardis’ effect. Unless you’re very much taller than average, try out a Smart for size. There may well be more room for you than you expected.

Drivers of Smart cars are usually massive fans of the brand. This is evident in the growing number of Smart events and festivals taking place around the UK.
